84 TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID 19 IN TAMIL NADU’S RAJ BHAWAN:
A total of 84 people, including security and fire service personnel, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Raj Bhawan here. “Since a few persons who were staying in the Raj Bhawan showed symptoms, 147 persons were tested, out of which 84 were found positive for COVID 19,” a statement from the Raj Bhawan said.A per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu has reported a total of 1,86,492 cases of COVID-19, including 51,765 active cases and 1,31,583 recoveries. So far, 3,144 COVID-19 deaths have been reported from the state.
HIGHEST SINGLE DAY SPIKE OF 45K COVID CASES IN INDIA IN PAST 24 HOURS:
India on Thursday recorded the highest single day spike of 45,720 fresh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours taking the total tally to 12,38,635, the Union Health Ministry data revealed. With 1,129 fresh deaths, the overall toll reached 29,861. But the recovery rate stood at 63.18 per cent with as many as 7,82,607 cured, which is almost twice the number of active patients at 4,26,167.
ROME COULD FACE 2nd LOCKDOWN AFTER COVID 19 CASES INCREASE:
Rome could be forced into a second lockdown after the Italian region of Lazio, which includes the capital city, witnessed a resurgence of coronavirus cases, it was reported. Authorities in the Lazio warned on Wednesday that restrictions to curb the spread of the virus may be reintroduced if cases continued to increase in the region, reports the Metro newspaper. Italy, one of the hardest hit countries in Europe, has so far reported a total of 245,032 COVID-19 cases, with 35,082 deaths.
TELANGANA COVID 19 UPDATES:
Efforts are on to increase the Covid-19 testing capacity in Telangana to at least 25,000 samples per day in the coming weeks, health authorities here said on Thursday. At present, private labs, rapid tests at primary health care facilities and PCR tests at Government laboratories are able to conduct tests up to 15,000 swab samples in a day. Giving a clear indication of the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus among the community in Telangana, health officials on Thursday have urged the general public to be very cautious in the next four to five weeks, which will go a long way in containing Covid-19. There were 1554 new Covid-19 cases and nine fatalities in Telangana on Wednesday, taking the toll so far to 438 and the total number of positive cases to 49,259.
According to the daily health bulletin, 1,281 persons recovered in the last 24 hours, pushing the recoveries to 37,666 at a recovery rate of 76.5 per cent while the number of active cases as on Wednesday in the State was 11,155. Out of the 1,554 new infections, areas under the GHMC reported 842 positive cases while 132 cases were reported from Rangareddy and 96 from Medchal. The Covid-19 cases reported from other districts include 24 from Sangareddy, 22 from Khammam, 22 from Kamareddy, 38 from Warangal-Urbal, 36 from Warangal Rural, one from Nirmal, 73 from Karimnagar, three from Jagtiyal, eight cases each from Yadadri, 11 from Mahabubabad, 23 cases each from Pedapally, 25 from Medak, 14 from Mahabubnagar, three from Mancherial, one from Kothagudem, 51 from Nalgonda, 18 from Siricilla, eight from Adilabad, two from Asifabad, one from Vikarabad, 14 from Nagarkurnool, 28 from Nizamabad, eight from Mulugu, 21 from Wanaparthy, two from Siddipet, 22 from Suryapet and five from Gadwal.
