Shramik special trains are running today for movement of stranded workers:

On the occasion of Labour Day (on May 1), the government has decided to run “Shramik Special” trains to transport migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stuck across the country due to the lockdown triggered by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak. The announcement came hours after the railways ministry ran a special train to ferry about 1,200 stranded migrant labourers from Telangana to Jharkhand in a first-of-its-kind move.

Centre marks six districts of Telangana in Red Zone:

In Telangana, the MOHFW has assigned six districts in red zone, 18 districts in orange zone and nine districts in green zone.The six districts that fall under the red zone in include Hyderabad, Suryapet, Rangareddy, Medchal/ Malkajgiri, Vikarabad and Warangal (Urban).

Coronavirus outbreak likely to go on for two years, scientists predict.

The coronavirus pandemic is likely to last between 18 and 24 months, scientists from the University of Minnesota have predicted.The new coronavirus has a longer incubation period than the flu, meaning it takes longer for symptoms to appear after a person has been infected, they said, noting that the coronavirus may be at its most contagious before symptoms appear. It was also pointed out that Covid-19 has displayed a higher rate of asymptomatic transmission, as well as a higher R0 rating than influenza.

Tony Allen: ‘World’s greatest drummer’ and afrobeat pioneer dies:

Pioneering Nigerian drummer Tony Allen, a co-founder of the afrobeat musical genre, died in Paris on Thursday aged 79, his manager says.Allen was the drummer and musical director of musician FelaKuti’s famous band Africa ’70 in the 1960-70s.Eric Trosset told NPR radio that he had died of a heart attack. AFP said his death was not linked to coronavirus.
