Maharashtra government on Tuesday allowed home delivery of liquor in the state. As per the order, licensed shops will be allowed to deliver Indian-made foreign liquor, mild liquor, beer and wine.

Vande Bharat Mission: 6,037 Indians brought home on 31 flights, 33 more to go.

India has managed to bring back 6,037 citizens, during the first five days of the Vande Bharat mission, who were stranded abroad amid the coronavirus-triggered lockdown, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said today. These flights are being operated by Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express. Vande Bharat mission is considered one of the largest expatriation exercise run by any country, during coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

Russia now has second-highest number of confirmed infections after the US:

Russia has confirmed 10,899 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, raising its total number of infections to 232,243, its coronavirus response center said in a statement Tuesday. The single-day increase has been over 10,000 for 10 consecutive days, the center’s data showed.

A fire apparently started by an overloaded ventilator killed five novel coronavirus patients in an intensive care unit in a Russian hospital on Tuesday, news agencies reported.Russia’s emergency ministry confirmed the death of intensive care patients in a hospital in the city of St. Petersburg but did not say how many people had been killed.

Surge after a lull as Telangana reports 79 new cases on Monday:

The State health authorities on Monday reported 79 new SARS-CoV-2 cases, the largest single-day surge since the outbreak of the pandemic in Telangana. This has taken the overall number of cases to 1,275 in the State while that of fatalities remained at 30.

The health officials also discharged 50 Covid-19 patients, with the total number of patients who have recovered climbing to 801. Despite 79 new cases, the recovery rate in the State has continued to remain strong at 62 per cent. Currently, there are 444 active cases in Gandhi Hospital.
