One billion people could become infected with the coronavirus worldwide:

The IRC’s report, which is based on models and data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Imperial College London, estimated there could be between 500m and 1bn infections globally.It also said there could be more than 3m deaths across dozens of conflict-affected and unstable countries.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson returned to work on Monday, has joined the minute’s silence for key workers at 11:00 BST today:

A minute’s silence has been held across the UK to commemorate the key workers who have died with coronavirus.More than 100 NHS and care staff have died with the virus, as have many transport and other key workers.Meanwhile, the son of a doctor who died has called on the government to issue a public apology for issues with personal protective equipment (PPE).

Can you catch coronavirus again? How long does immunity last?

 “There is currently no evidence that people who have recovered from COVID-19 and have antibodies are protected from a second infection,” said WHO. “At this point in the pandemic, there is not enough evidence about the effectiveness of antibody-mediated immunity to guarantee the accuracy of an ‘immunity passport’ or ‘risk-free certificate’,” it said.

50 lakhs compensation for all port employees and workers who died due to Covid 19:

The shipping ministry on Tuesday announced 50 lakhs compensation to legal heirs or dependent members of all port employees and workers in case of their death due to corona virus. “This compensation is applicable only for the pandemic of COVID-19 and shall be in force up to 30.09.2020, subject to review thereafter,” it said.

Telangana shows positive signs regarding corona virus disease control: six new cases and 42 discharged today

Health minister Etela Rajendar said, there is a steady decline in Covid 19 positive cases since a week and will definitely come under control by the end of lockdown. For the past few days, coronavirus cases were not being reported from Suryapet, Vikarabad and Gadwal. “Only areas under GHMC are reporting cases and we are very confident that by first week of May, we can control the situation in Hyderabad,” he said.
