HIGHEST RECORD OF SINGLE DAY SPIKE IN CASES IN PAST 24 HOURS IN INDIA:
India recorded highest record of 48,916 cases in past 24 hours taking the total tally to 133,6861. The total number of active cases currently is 456,071. With 757 deaths in the last 24 hours, the cumulative toll reached 31,358. Maharashtra has reported 3,57,117 coronavirus cases, the highest among states and Union Territories in the country. A total of 1,99,749 cases have been reported from Tamil Nadu till now, while Delhi has recorded a total of 1,28,389 coronavirus cases.
IPL SET TO START IN UAE FROM SEPT 19 2020:
Indian Premier League (IPL) will start on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the final slated on November 8. It is a 51-day window which will suit the franchises as well as the broadcasters and other stakeholders. It is expected that with each and every team needing at least a month’s time to train, the IPL franchises will be leaving base by August 20 which gives them exactly four weeks’ time to prepare. The Indians are set to play a four-match Test series against Australia starting December 3 in Brisbane.
ANDHRA PRADESH SET A NEW RECORD OF 8,147 CASES IN PAST 24 HOURS:
With a highest single day record of more than 8000 cases in past 24 hours, State’s covid tally marked 80,858 cases on Friday.The State now has 39,990 active cases after 39,935 patients recovered from the infection and 933 died, including 49 reported on Friday. On the testing front, it crossed another milestone, as the number of samples examined crossed the 15 lakh mark. The infection positivity rate shot up to 5.24 per cent while the recovery rate fell marginally to 49.39 per cent after touching 51.65 per cent on Thursday after higher discharges in the last two days
